The Starting Point: Great Product, No Pipeline
When the founders of a Pune-based HR software company approached MKSON WORLD, they were 18 months post-launch with 23 paying clients, all acquired through personal networks. Their product had genuine product-market fit — clients loved it and churned almost never. But growth had stalled because founders were spending 80% of their time on delivery and only 20% on sales.
They needed a scalable marketing engine that would bring qualified leads to their door without requiring founders to hustle personally for every new client.
Phase 1: Foundation (Months 1-2)
We started with a complete digital audit. The website was functional but not optimised for conversion — no case studies, no clear ROI messaging, no calls-to-action beyond a generic "Contact Us." The company had no SEO presence, no content strategy, and no paid advertising experience.
Month 1 and 2 were all about foundation: rebuilding the website with proper messaging ("HR software for Indian SMEs under 500 employees — onboarding, payroll, and compliance in one platform"), creating six detailed case studies from existing happy clients, and setting up Google Analytics 4 and Search Console correctly.
Phase 2: Demand Generation (Months 3-5)
With foundation in place, we launched two channels simultaneously: Google Ads targeting high-intent searches ("HR software for SMEs India," "payroll software India pricing") and a content marketing program publishing two long-form blog posts per month targeting awareness-stage searches ("how to manage HR compliance in India," "best practices for onboarding employees remotely").
Google Ads delivered immediate results — cost-per-lead was ₹1,200 in month 3, dropping to ₹780 by month 5 as we optimised. The content program was slower, but by month 5 we had 8 posts ranking on page one for long-tail terms.
Phase 3: Scale (Months 6-12)
By month 6, the client was generating 35-40 qualified inbound leads per month — up from 5-8 before we started. We expanded Google Ads to include competitive terms (targeting searches for competitor brands), launched a LinkedIn advertising campaign to reach HR managers and CEOs at mid-sized Indian companies, and started an email nurture sequence for leads who did not convert immediately.
The email nurture program was a breakthrough. We discovered that 40% of their eventual clients had first contacted them 3-6 months earlier. By nurturing these leads with educational content and case studies, we were doubling the total conversions from the same lead volume.
The 12-Month Results
- Monthly recurring revenue: ₹8.2 lakhs → ₹51.4 lakhs
- Inbound leads per month: 6 → 82
- Organic traffic: 240/month → 12,800/month
- Cost per acquisition: ₹18,000 → ₹4,200
- Client base: 23 companies → 178 companies
The founders went from spending 80% of their time on hustle to spending 20%. Their sales team (which they were finally able to hire because of predictable lead flow) does the rest.
What Made This Work
Three things drove these results: First, we fixed the foundation before spending on ads. Second, we ran multiple channels that reinforced each other — someone might find the brand through organic search, see the ads, and convert through an email. Third, we measured everything and made data-driven decisions on where to invest more and where to cut.
